"WONDERS NEVER CEASED" by Granville Taylor.  A Granville Taylor Publication.  Twelve months of research went into this book, about all the magicians, illusionists, and novelty acts which played the theatres in Burnley and Nelson from 1877 until they closed their doors for the last time.  It is in chronological order for each theatre.  Full bill matter is quoted, with reviews of the acts and shows as recorded by the theatre critics of the local newspapers. Theatre advertisements are reproduced, together with other photographs and memorabilia from Granville Taylor's own collection - never before published.  Whilst this work is about the wonderful acts that played our local theatres, the same acts toured all over the country, and often, the world, in the same period, so the book is of great value to the historian and anyone interested in show business.  Magicians should appreciate what has been achieved in the past, and emulate to be at least as good as these great performers, if not better; that is the best way to progress.  Sadly, many modern performers present inferior imitations of many illusions of the past masters, through a lack of knowledge of the actual equipment used, or the way it was presented.  The book has 113 pages, A4 size, and the pages are stapled and bound with black "Rexine" cardboard covers.  Each book is numbered and signed by the author.  Price: £40.00.  Plus U.K. postage and packing of £7.00.   Airmail postage U.S.A. is £15.00.  Postage to Europe is £10.00.  U.K. buyers please make all cheques payable to Granville Taylor.  Overseas buyers please pay via Paypal.

"SCRIMMING" by Granville Taylor.  A Granville Taylor Publication.  This 19-page A4 manuscript describes in detail all there is to know about the subject.  "What's scrimming?"  That's what Granville Taylor said to Lucille Lyle in 1956 at her luxury apartment overlooking Park Lane in Mayfair, when she produced an oval hat box containing Amac's opera hat used for the finish of his "Elusive Lady" act.  "This box has been scrimmed", she said.  "I did it myself."  Here, for the first time in print, is a step-by-step guide to an old theatrical craft; invaluable for anyone working in the theatre, or the touring professional, the 'prop' maker etc. Chung Ling Soo taught his friend Cecil Lyle how to 'scrim', and told him about its advantages when building illusions and travelling boxes for small tricks.  Lucille Lyle taught Granville Taylor how to 'scrim'; a procedure which has been of great value to him over the years.  Modern magicians use flight cases lined with foam to protect their props.  The trouble is that the foam disintegrates over the years, leaving behind a mess of plastic 'dust' and exposing the sticky black adhesive used to fix it in the first place!  Flight cases are expensive, and do not stand up to the rigours of world tours for long, whereas a canvas-lined travelling box, made from exterior birch plywood, and hardwood frames, will last a lifetime after it has been "scrimmed", and will still be in use when the flight-case has been discarded.    Price: £20.00 plus U.K. postage £4.00.  Overseas postage £5.00.  Now with colour photographs.

THE LUCILLE LYLE LETTERS ON AUDIO TAPES.  Granville Taylor reads the letters he received from THE GREAT LYLE, and from LUCILLE LYLE in a friendship lasting over 20 years. Their forthright comments, opinions, and advice are recorded for posterity.  Invaluable for anyone interested in Magic as a profession, the theatre, and showbusiness.  Set of four tapes.  Price:  £20.00.
